Samsung NC20

I've got myself a nice new netbook. I couldn't handle a very small screen so the NC20 seemed to offer and excellent compromise with a 1280 pixel display.

Nice, small and light. The plan was to put Ubuntu on it but alas the install did not go smoothly - graphics driver problems. I couldn't bear either to go back to XP or use Vista so have downloaded Windows 7 to give that a go.

Just one thing - as new gadgets get shinier and better (think mobile screens for example), the greasiness of my hands seem to become a bigger and rather revolting issue.

You should persevere with Ubuntu, on account of Microsoft being evil. The Ubuntu community has some documentation specific to the NC20 that may help you. I have been planning to acquire a netbook at some point (perhaps a Dell Mini 10) and I'll also be going down the Linux route.

Perhaps you should consider keeping a packet of latex surgical gloves with you at all times? They will help you keep your shiny toys fingerprint and grease free, and you never know when you might need to shove you hand up someone's arse.

Agreed on the ubuntu front. If I just had a little more time I would pursue it. Frustratingly I was able to install ubuntu on my ancient laptop and it worked brilliantly - hence the plan this time.

The link looks really good. When my life is a little more relaxed I might have a proper go at it.

Maybe I should just wash my hands a little more frequently... :-)
