At long last... a new look.
Not bad for a couple of days work. Little in the way of new functionality but I've ironed out quite a few bugs and the like.
Amusingly I accidently deleted 2 years worth of data during testing. Luckily my hosting company had a backup but it was done 10 days ago - therefore apologies to anyone that has added links on comments in that time.

I can't be the only one that finds it very difficult to locate utility software.
I've found a half-decent and *free* DVD ripper that seems to work well.
The free version will only do a 'standard' rip of 720mb or so, which is fine for my needs.

The Mandlebrot set is eerie and beautiful. Generated by iterating an incredibly simple formula
xn+1 = xn2 + c
it creates a pattern of some beauty and has infinite 'depth'.
Wonderful.

An interesting article.
A couple of highlights..
ComplexityFor every 10-percent increase in problem complexity, there is a 100-percent increase in the software solution's complexity.
PeopleGood programmers are up to *30 times* better than mediocre programmers.
RequirementsWhen a project moves from requirements to design, the solution process's complexity causes an explosion of "derived requirements." The list of requirements for the design phase is often 50 times longer than the list of original requirements.
Put simply - software is hard, and not very many people are good at it.

Being a cyclist I'm particularly sensitive to the weather, especially rain.
My perception tells me that this has been a terrible year, and a quick analysis of the
stats bears this out.
Here's the percentage of average rainfall per month this year.
JAN 159%
FEB 62%
MAR 157%
APR 124%
MAY 111%
JUN 103%
JUL 151%
AUG 147%
SEP 136%
OCT 115%
Total 128%

A lot of excitement at the moment about the First World War in the media - and rightly so.
If you haven't read the Pat Barker trilogy I can heartily recommend it.
Also Sebastian Faulks Birdsong is a cracking read.

Jeff Stelling is the governor; the acceptable face of football fandom.
Countdown seems an odd move. Sad to say, but there'll never be another twice-nightly.
Jeff looks a bit different already to me.

Phew. Another chunk of hard work, another website re-vamped.
This time
allthegoodstuff.co.uk.
Much the same functionality as before, but ajax'd up a little and tidied up in general.

Yeah, I know. It's not 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife. Or even a traffic jam when you are already late.
But still...

Another chunk of my weekend disappears working on allthegoodstuff :-).
Still, some nice new functionality - including "bestsellers".
Bosh.

Poor old Jacqui - it seems that every time New Labour need to take a bit of heat she gets wheeled out to stretch the truth to its very limits.
To top it all she has a curse on her - every time she lies she looks a little more like Richard Littlejohn.
As you can see, not far to go.
