Well. So far, so rather good.

I managed to install both on my netbook and my main pc in no time at all.

No hardware detection or driver problems.

The interface is nice and clean.

Bye, bye Vista. The worst operating system ever released by Microsoft.

Bear in mind that Windows 7 is actually based on Vista. It is equivalent to Windows 95/98 evolving into Windows Me. Windows XP was a ground-up redesign, and continues to be the most stable of the Microsoft "home" operating systems.

My next PC purchase will probably be a Windows 7-based unit. My first act will be to format and partition the hard drive and then reinstall the OS in a dual boot arrangement with Ubuntu.

Simon, that being the case, it's (hopefully) a thinned down, lighter, less fucked up version of Vista.

I've long hankered after an Ubuntu installation but I can't survive without Visual Studio/SQL Server. Dual boot is a possibility, but an inconvenient and unaesthetic one.

I can't believe that someone can be arsed to spam this site.

In a way I have to admire the determination of spammers. I'd still like to see them decapitated of course.
