It's almost possible to feel sorry for Brown. Not quite. But nearly. His dismal reign is nearly over thankfully - I don't have sufficient historical perspective to judge but he is surely one of the least popular and ineffectual Prime Ministers of all time.
Anyway, I thought for a second he'd said something of merit. He said
"...we mustn't be distracted by the behind-the-times, anti-science, flat-earth sceptics"
Maybe he was going to start listening to the Government's chief drug advisor? Or maybe taking a stronger lead on the teaching of ID in schools.
Neither of the above alas. Science when it suits him I think.
